What is EFT?
"EFT" is short for Emotional Freedom Technique, a natural "finger tapping" and thought

EFT was developed by Gary Craig, a Stanford engineer, it is based on TFT (Thought Field Therapy),
a therapy he learned from Dr. Roger Callahan. By chance while working with a patient who suffered
a very strong water phobia, Dr. Callaghan discovered the immediate relieving effects on her anxieties
by tapping on certain acupuncture points. EFT takes the concept of TFT further by using the protocol
in a more creative way. For almost 20-plus years now, EFT has been a well-known procedure throughout
the world, implemented by many healthcare professionals as well as EFT practitioners. It has been
effectively used in connection with phobias, anxieties, performance problems and in any areas where
negative emotions are restricting a persons potential.
How does EFT work?
There are a several theories ... here are some basic assumptions about EFT.
- We are dealing with body, mind, and spirit energy.
- The cause of negative emotions is a disruption of the body's energy system.
- The energy we are dealing with runs in the Meridian channels of the body.
- In Traditional Chinese Medicine this energy is called Qi, it is "subtle energy" and follows the
theory of Quantum physics rather than the rules of Newtonian physics.
- It can only be described by its effects and not by its appearance... you cannot see it.
- By tapping the acupuncture points and activating the flow of Qi throughout the body and mentally
focusing on a specific issue, we have the opportunity to release negative memories from our subconscious
mind. These memories often trigger unwelcome emotions and prevent us from living life to the fullest...
we become stuck in... stuck our fear, our "what ifs."

What EFT is NOT!
EFT is an excellent, effective, exciting, and impressive healing tool... but
it is not a "cure-all." At times the results are so amazing that it appears to
give people "1 minute miracles". However, we need to see and use it as a tool, to
help us regain balance in our emotional, physical and spiritual lives. As with all
tools, they can be misused, handled inadequately, or applied in a mechanical,
course, meaningless way.
EFT is NOT hypnosis, cognitive-behavioral therapy, NLP, prayer, laying on of
hands, Reike, Therapeutic Touch, or any other technique that has similar properties
or compatible supporting theories.
EFT is NOT a replacement for adequate mental health counseling or physiological
tests and treatment by authorized and licensed Medical Doctors.
EFT is NOT a technique to be used with severely disturbed individuals by
inexperienced clinicians.
EFT is NOT a replacement for learning invaluable interpersonal communication
skills –-learning how to share feelings responsibly and to listen to others
deeply and respectfully.
When used correctly, EFT is sure to help create the emotional peace, physical
strength, and spiritual depth of your life. But you still have to live your life
and interact with others...your partners, spouse, children, employer, friends and
colleagues!
EFT is an experimental therapy, and is not
meant to replace standard medical and/or mental health counseling. While there have
been no documented negative side effects from using EFT when the proper treatment
protocols have been followed, this does NOT mean that you will not experience them.
